The future is looking bright in Virgina! Renewable Works is now accepting applications for PROJECT MANAGER at our exciting new solar project in the Scottsville area. Whether you're a seasoned solar professional or aspiring first-timer, we'd love for you to join our crew!

As a member of our team, you'll be responsible for managing the various aspects and phases of a project life cycle, ensuring adherence to enterprise, local project and program management standards, frameworks, and processes. This position reports to the Director of Projects, or another management personnel that the President of the Company may designate.

Heads up: This is a physically demanding role that will require you to work in all kinds of weather. A strong work ethic will serve you well, along with prior solar or construction experience (this is a plus, not a must!).

Pay: $52.00 - $58.00 / hr

Job Responsibilities

  • Overall responsibility for all stages of construction projects
  • Develop and review project schedules, cost estimation, bill of materials, budgets, scopes of work, standards and quotes from suppliers
  • Supervise project implementation to assure cost, time, quality and execution guidelines according to schedule
  • Competent / experienced in contract negotiations
  • Develop work breakdown structures as well as negotiating them with suppliers
  • Manage all parties involved (internal and external) and ensure professional project management from system design to construction phase
  • Represent project towards external parties such as investors, public authorities, grid operator and others
  • Responsibility for project controlling
  • Coordinate and manage one or more internal project teams
  • Collaborate with team members when necessary to ensure effective communication and results
  • Regular attendance, in accordance with company's attendance policy and supervisory assignment, is an essential job duty requirement for this position

Job requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Management, or another related engineering science
  • Minimum of 5-7 years of professional experience managing the performance of major projects, preferably in the building of power stations or supply networks, or other utility-scale construction projects
  • Minimum of 2 years of solar PV or wind power project experience, preferred
  • Has independently overseen multi-million dollar projects
  • Extensive work experience in management and completion of large scale projects in a responsible position (in particularly, solar PV projects)
  • Appropriate leadership experience
  • International experience (preferably time spent abroad)
  • Assertive, able to cope with a dynamic surroundings, a team player, prepared to travel
  • Demonstrated ability in managing projects: development, planning, installation and execution
  • Experience in permitting processes with local authorities
  • Advanced knowledge in Microsoft office tools
  • Strong in Microsoft Office Suite
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

The hourly rate for this position is anticipated to range between $52.00 - $58.00 per hour. This range is a good-faith estimate, based on the qualifications necessary for the position, including but not limited to experience, training, and other considerations permitted by law. Factors that may be used when making an offer may include a candidate's skills and experience, the expected quality and quantity of work, and internal pay alignment, as needed. Most candidates will start in the bottom half of the pay range. The upper end of the range will generally be reserved for candidates with extensive skills and experience. An employee's pay history will not be a contributing factor where prohibited by local law.
