The future is looking bright in Virgina! Renewable Works is now accepting applications for ASSISTANT PROJECT MANAGER at our exciting new solar project in the Chester area. Whether you're a seasoned solar professional or aspiring first-timer, we'd love for you to join our crew!

As a member of our team, you'll be primary on-site engineering and technical lead for utility-scale solar EPC projects. This role provides direct leadership to Field Engineers, supports site leadership, and ensures construction activities are executed in accordance with approved drawings, specifications, and project requirements. The position requires full-time travel and continuous on-site presence for the duration of assigned projects.

Heads up: This is a physically demanding role that will require you to work in all kinds of weather. A strong work ethic will serve you well, along with prior solar or construction experience (this is a plus, not a must!).

Pay: $57.21 - $67.30 / hr

Job Responsibilities

  • Provide on-site engineering leadership and act as a technical resource for site leadership, superintendents, and subcontractors
  • Lead, mentor, and manage Field Engineers, including task assignment, workload balancing, and performance support
  • Prepare, review, and submit RFIs based on field conditions and constructability concerns
  • Review RFI responses and engineering revisions to ensure accurate and timely implementation in the field
  • Coordinate engineering activities between design teams, site leadership, and construction crews
  • Support field execution through constructability reviews, issue resolution, and quality oversight
  • Ensure construction work aligns with IFC drawings, specifications, and approved changes
  • Assist with quantity tracking, progress verification, and pay application support
  • Identify, communicate, and help resolve design conflicts, field issues, and execution risks
  • Maintain consistent documentation, reporting, and communication across Field Engineers
  • Support planning, sequencing, and work execution through technical input and site coordination

Job Requirements

  • Ability to lift up to 50-75+ pounds and remain in a stationary position for extended periods of time with or without reasonable accommodation
  • Solar and/or construction site experience preferred
  • While tools will be provided onsite, please come ready with steel or composite toed boots and hot/cold weather gear
  • Attention to performance details

The hourly rate for this position is anticipated to range between $57.21 - $67.30 per hour. This range is a good-faith estimate, based on the qualifications necessary for the position, including but not limited to experience, training, and other considerations permitted by law. Factors that may be used when making an offer may include a candidate's skills and experience, the expected quality and quantity of work, and internal pay alignment, as needed. Most candidates will start in the bottom half of the pay range. The upper end of the range will generally be reserved for candidates with extensive skills and experience. An employee's pay history will not be a contributing factor where prohibited by local law.
