The future is looking bright in Kentucky! RenewableWorks is now accepting applications for Surveyor in our exciting new solar project in the Franklin area. Whether you're a seasoned solar professional or aspiring first-timer, we'd love for you to join our crew!

As a member of our team, you'll be responsible for the development and construction of large-scale solar farms by ensuring accurate land measurement, construction staking, and as-built mapping. You'll be instrumental in the operations of sustainable energy units on commercial solar farm sites.

Heads up: This is a physically demanding role that will require you to work in all kinds of weather. A strong work ethic will serve you well, along with prior solar or construction experience (this is a plus, not a must!).

Job Responsibilities

  • Perform high-precision staking for site layout, including property boundaries, fence lines, access roads, pile driving (tracker) locations, inverter pads, and electrical trenches.
  • Conduct topographic surveys to assess terrain, slope, and drainage, aiding in civil design and grading efforts.
  • Document the final location of all installed infrastructure, including pile positions, electrical cable routes, and underground utilities.
  • Set up, maintain, and operate surveying equipment, including GPS base stations, GNSS rovers, Robotic Total Stations (TPS), and laser levels.
  • Upload and download project data between field equipment and design software (e.g., AutoCAD, Trimble,Business Center), ensuring the latest design revisions are used.
  • Collaborate with civil engineers, construction superintendents, and project managers to identify and resolve field constructability issues.
  • Strict adherence to site-specific safety plans and OSHA regulations

Job Requirements

  • 25+ years of experience in construction surveying, preferably in utility-scale solar, renewables, or large civil development.
  • Proficiency with AutoCAD, Civil 3D, and survey software such as Trimble SCS900 or GCS900
  • Proficiency with GPS, GNSS rovers, and Robotic Total Stations
  • Ability to walk long distances over rugged terrain in extreme outdoor temperatures, and lift/carry surveying equipment (up to 50+ lbs)
  • Bachelors degree in Geomatics, Civil Engineering, or similar is preferred but equivalent work experience is often accepted
  • Valid drivers license with a clean driving record to operate company vehicles/UTVs.
  • This position often requires 100% travel or long-term assignment to project sites

The hourly rate for this position is anticipated to range between $34.00 - $34.00 per hour. This range is a good-faith estimate, based on the qualifications necessary for the position, including but not limited to experience, training, and other considerations permitted by law. Factors that may be used when making an offer may include a candidate's skills and experience, the expected quality and quantity of work, and internal pay alignment, as needed. Most candidates will start in the bottom half of the pay range. The upper end of the range will generally be reserved for candidates with extensive skills and experience. An employee's pay history will not be a contributing factor where prohibited by local law.
