As a member of our team, you'll be responsible for supporting and overseeing the implementation of the SWPPP (Stormwater Pollution Prevention Plan) and environmental requirements to ensure compliance with environmental laws, regulations, and applicable permits for the construction of Solar PV and BESS projects. You'll be instrumental in the operations of sustainable energy units on commercial solar farm sites.

Heads up: This is a physically demanding role that will require you to work in all kinds of weather. A strong work ethic will serve you well, along with prior solar or construction experience (this is a plus, not a must!).

Job Responsibilities

  • Oversee the implementation of the Environmental Management Plan (EMP) for the project site
  • Provide environmental compliance support to the project team
  • Monitor company activities for compliance and coordinate with the Corporate Environmental Project Manager
  • Manage the implementation of the SWPPP (Stormwater Pollution Prevention Plan)
  • Conduction inspections and advising Best Management Practice (BMP) for SWPPP installation and maintenance
  • Supervise the implementation of the Waste Management Plan (WMP) to include waste disposal documentation and tracking
  • Conducting hazardous waste inspections and initiating updates or corrective actions as needed
  • Conduct Spill Prevention Control and Countermeasure (SPCC) inspections and implement updates and corrective actions. Ensure potential contamination sources such as oil spills or chemical leaks are managed and mitigated appropriately
  • Conduct wildlife exclusionary fencing inspections in collaboration with the Wildlife Biologist
  • Report wildlife discoveries or issues to the Corporate Environmental Compliance Manager and coordinate buffers and actions with wildlife biologists as required
  • Support the project team during audits by regulatory agencies or third parties. Collect evidence, oversee corrective actions, document incidents, compliance findings or improvement opportunities using Procore Construction Management Software
  • Deliver Worker Environmental Awareness Program (WEAP) training to new hires as needed and maintain attendance records
  • Represent Environmental Team in meetings with internal teams, customers and subcontractors
  • Tasks will involve excessive walking, bending, kneeling, twisting, reaching, standing, lifting throughout entire shift
  • Perform additional tasks and special projects as assigned

Job Requirements

  • 2+ years of experience implementing environmental compliance requirements on construction/solar projects
  • Experience implementing stormwater permits, plans and BMPs
  • Stormwater Inspector Certification preferred
  • Experience implementing waster management plans and collecting disposal documentation
  • General knowledge of Federal Environmental Regulations (CWA, CAA, RCRA, etc.) preferred
  • Ability to collaborate with team members across departments
  • Experience in renewables construction preferred
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suites to include Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint
  • Experience with Procore Management Software preferred
  • Ability to lift up to 50-75+ pounds and remain in a stationary position for extended periods of time with or without reasonable accommodation
  • Ability to meet additional screening requirements
  • While tools will be provided onsite, please come ready with steel or composite-toed boots and hot/cold weather gear - this is your requirement

The hourly rate for this position is anticipated to range between $25.00 - $38.00 per hour. This range is a good-faith estimate, based on the qualifications necessary for the position, including but not limited to experience, training, and other considerations permitted by law. Factors that may be used when making an offer may include a candidate's skills and experience, the expected quality and quantity of work, and internal pay alignment, as needed. Most candidates will start in the bottom half of the pay range. The upper end of the range will generally be reserved for candidates with extensive skills and experience. An employee's pay history will not be a contributing factor where prohibited by local law.
